FMC: Female Main Character comes out of a lifetime of reading and being drawn, again and again, to women in stories. Not just heroines in the obvious sense, but girls, mothers, lovers, daughters, women surviving, women desiring, women enduring, women becoming. This exhibition is an exploration of that pull.

The show explores a very tiny handful of female characters who stayed with me for various reasons. The ones whose inner lives, choices, limitations, contradictions, and transformations felt vivid enough to live with me beyond the page.
