13 April - 26 May 2019
(An exhibition presented by the BKhz Studio)
In keeping with our primary objective which is to provide an alternative exhibition space to emerging and established artists, we will be hosting the exhibition aptly titled Process. Process stems from an intrigue vis-a-vis the way visual artists create worlds through their practice. In this exhibition that centres the work of art as a work in process, the artists Lady $kollie, Mashudu Nevhutalu, Chris Soal, Sharon Moses, Allen Laing, Ke Neil We, XiaoCheng Hu, Tatenda Chidora and Matt Hazell have been requested to engage the space by creating works that highlight their process of creating art.
Matt Hazell, one the artist featured, describes his process as one that is:
“currently in flux shifting between mediums and conceptual concerns so I can create a space in which to learn and progress after feeling somewhat stagnant in my art practice. I generally work on multiple works at once as I can let works breathe when I am uncertain how to progress them”
The creation of the work will happen in the gallery space, with the development of the artworks occurring in the confines of the space and in full view of the gallery-going public. The show is being realised as part of an attempt to stay true to the spaces’ initial function as a studio space where its initiator Banele Khoza could expose the public to the full breadth and scope of his art practice, from his inspiration, pre-planning to the actual painting and finally the exhibition. Banele Khoza is now extending this thinking around the creation of artwork to the aforementioned artists.
Join us for this exhibition that promises to be an enthralling experience that exposes the richness and diversity of artistic practice.
The show runs from the 13th of April 2019 to the 26th of May 2019 at the BKhz studio on 68 Juta Street in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
