What Do Painters Do All Day ?

The show offers a new take on painting, utilising the art form to create new images that evoke feeling and passion, pathos and empathy. Whatever it may be, paintings are always carry with them an air of mystery. Perhaps this mystery just speaks to how we have been engineered to view paintings as ambiguous and therefore prone to mystery. And with this mystery of the painting comes the enigma of the painters themselves.

What do painters do all day?
This show an ode to the mundane, the everyday, the inconsequential acts of living that are hidden from artist’s public profile.
The show is a group show to be arranged at BKhz studio in Braamfontein opening on the 8tth of December and running until the 31st of January. It consists of painting works that are reflective of a contemporary South African art canon produced by young South African artists. Works that are bold and refreshing in their co-opting of colour to render a visual narrative.
In Banele Khoza’z own words:

"Everyone thinks that all we do is paint.
Wake up, paint, eat and sleep.
So I was wondering, what do other painters do all day?"
